BETWEEN US: Orphan Texts

The Mexico Weekly, long-awaited and much-needed, has aspired to launch-status for almost a year now, and considerably longer than that if you count the planning phase. It's still on hold, as is the revamped Mexico Today web site, which will offer a daily complement to the printed magazine's weekly approach. The delay can be blamed on the usual start-up pitfalls, plus some highly original ones. For much of the last ten months, staff writers have been producing, but no magazine has been circulating. That means a number of worthwhile pieces remain mostly unread, consigned as they've been to not-for-sale prototype issues available only to the chosen, or to recondite Internet niches accessible only to the persistent. Since articles aren't good for much other than being read, I'll try to resurrect here those I have dominion over (i.e. mine, written as the arts and culture editor for the weekly-in-limbo), starting with the book review posted below.
